STUDENT PILOT LICENSE (SPL)

The privileges of a student pilot license are to receive flying training for issue, renewal, or a revalidation of a higher license.

Pre-requisite

  • Age: At least 16 Years
  • Medical: Class 2
  • Education: Secondary school certificate or Equivalent
  • Language: An applicant shall be capable of speaking, reading and understanding the English language. Passed a practical communication test to demonstrate language proficiency to at least operational level 4.
  • Ground Training: 4 Months before undertaking the flying
  • Validity: Lifetime subject to maintaining the valid medical fitness certificate of class 2.

PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE (PPL)

The holder of a private pilot license may act, but not for remuneration, as pilot-in-command or co-pilot of any aircraft (engaged in non-revenue flights for which his license is endorsed). Before exercising the privileges at night, the license holder must have a Night Rating.

  • Pre-requisite: Student Pilot License (SPL)
  • Age: At least 17 Years
  • Medical: Class 2
  • Education: Secondary school certificate or equivalent
  • Training: Private Pilot License course shall be of 08 months duration; and shall comprise a minimum of 40 hours following the prescribed syllabus excluding the ground schooling period.
  • Validity: 24 months

COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE (CPL)

The holder of a Commercial pilot license may act as pilot-in-command or co-pilot of any aircraft engaged in revenue flights for which his license is endorsed. Before exercising the privileges at night, the license holder shall have a Night Rating.

  • Pre-requisite: Applicant must hold a valid private pilot license (PPL)
  • Age: At least 18 Years
  • Medical: Class 1
  • Language: An applicant must be capable of speaking, reading, and understanding the English language. 
  • Education: Secondary school certificate or Equivalent.
  • Training: The Commercial Pilot License course shall be in 10 months; and shall comprise a minimum of 110 hours following the prescribed syllabus excluding PPL experience.
  • Validity: 5 years

INSTRUMENT RATING (IR)

  • Pre-requisite: Applicant must hold at least a valid PPL or CPL.
  • Language Proficiency: An applicant shall be capable of speaking, reading, and understanding the English language.
  • Duration: The Instrument Rating approved course is covered in the CPL ground schooling and shall comprise a minimum of 40 hours.

AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT LICENSE (ATPL)

  • Pre-requisite: Applicant must hold a valid commercial pilot license (CPL)
  • Age: Applicants for an ATPL should be at least 21 years of age.
  • Medical Standards: The applicant for an ATPL must pass the class I medical examination.
  • Language Proficiency: An applicant should be capable of speaking, reading, and understanding the English language.
  • Educational Qualification: An applicant must hold an educational qualification of at least a Higher Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.

FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR TRAINING (FIT) - INSTRUCTOR RATING (FI RATING)

The flight instructor course allows a holder of a CPL/IR or an ATPL holder to act and fly as an instructor.

  • Eligibility: Applicant must meet the following requirements:
  1. CPL with IR or ATPL
  2. Must clear the FI exam
  • Duration: FI course is a 6-months course including ground and flight training. The FI course requires at least 30 hours of flight training of which 25 hours shall be dual flight instruction. The remaining five hours may be mutual flying.
